[python] Re: airbike

Rob,

I bought me an airbike 8 years ago for $ 1500. Before, I tried the
flevobike for one week and could not ride it.
The airbike looked better to me and had 2x26" wheels. Also it was
easier to ride.
The reason why I developed the python was, that I wanted a
lowracer, but center-steered and with 2x26" wheels like the
airbike.
It is a great advantage to be able to touch the ground
with both hands, especially with clipless pedals.
Lower air resistance was an other argument
for the python design.
I consider the airbike a very sweet recumbent and it has inspired
me a lot. But now I use it as a donor bike for my python
experiments - shame on me!
When riding the airbike, I do not touch the handlebars, except
for breaking and gear changes.

When watching people, making their first tries on a python,
and comparing this to the first airbike tries, two effects are
notable:

    - the python is lower and the people feel safe, so they risk
      more.
    - the airbike is running like on rails, so I have seen people
being able to ride it from the first minute on (like me).

So the airbike is easier to learn, but if you fall, damage is
bigger.

Regards from Jürgen.
