[python] Re: Webcam Passing

There was a fair bit of traffic on the effects of welding galvanized steel
tubing, on one of the other builder-mailinglists I'm on. A couple guys dug
up 2 studies on the "welder poisoning" and both studies produced the same
results.

First, the white powder, or xinc oxide, is non-toxic. It's the same stuff
people smear on their faces to prevent sun-burns. Second, unless the person
is working in a very small place, with zero ventilation, and doing a lot of
welding, the physical effects are minimal and short lived. The symptoms
include headaches, minor lung irritation, and at higher exposures, possible
nausea (as mentioned).

I too use galvanized tubing for my seat frames and am fairly lazy about
getting ALL the zinc off before welding. I use a wire wheel, mainly, but
have read a number of times that toilet bowl cleaner with hydrochloric acid
in it works very well at removing the cladding. It must be rinsed off very
well, though, and then there might be rust issues as well. Also, what kind
of gas is produced from hot HCL acid and is it more toxic than the zinc
oxide?

Anyway, a little FYI.

Getting back on topic, ie pythons, a couple things.
First, there should be a new python rider soon as a friend of mine wants to
build a python after riding the one I built. He has asite that lists some
of the trikes he's built so hopefully his python will appear there shortly:

Second, all the math and theoretical programming is cool to produce software
that helps design the bikes, but some of the requested data is pretty much
irrelelvent for me, because I have no idea, or standard method, to find the
CoG and locate the position and value of the "masses".
What would be far more useful, I think, is to identify what the important
factors are, and what their changes do to the handling. Pivot angle, seat
height(?), wheel base, traill, BB height, etc. Maybe this is what these
programs will determine and I'm just not clever enough to see that at this
point. ?
