[python] Walking the bike

I want to be able to walk with the cycle, so I am considering to mount a
damper on the python, or find some other solution.
I tried pushing on the seat like Jürgen once mentioned on this list, but I
can't push hard enough. And I begin to feel my back hurting from steeping
over, carrying the bike, or simply holding it (I do have a back problem,
so it is an important problem for me).
The ideal would be something (a spring) that is on-off able. Something
that can be done by "the press of a button". So when I stop I flip a
"switch", and it is in "springy"-mode, and when I start cycling again, I
put it in "self centered"-mode. I should also be easy to implement.
Like riding the python, pushing it has to be learned as well.
You don´t need to push it 300 km to learn this, but maybe
some kilometers.
I have added a neck support with a handle to my seat. So I don´t
have to bend down. Steering while pushing is done by a combination
of slightly leaning the bike and more or less pressing downward to
activate the centering effect. When I have baggage on the rack, the
pressing is not necessary.
The special stand (or does one say "standard"?) that I have constructed
eases the handling by totally blocking the steering pivot. This makes
the snake rigid and stiff, so you can carry it or put it up vertically.
The stand weighs about 500g. You can sit on the jacked up bike, using
it as a deck-chair, or check the gears or do maintenance. Also both wheels
can be dismounted while being jacked up.
Sure, the stand has its weight, but I appreciate its benefits.
Jürgen.
