[python] The evolution of lighter steering pivots

The steering pivot is quite heavy on a python. On my next version I
would prefer a lighter solution. There have been discussions about
using sintered brass and composite materials or even rubber instead of
ball- and roller bearings. Is anybody working on this problem? Any
progress to report?
