The hammock seat happened to be reasonable comfy for my back at
distances upto 80 km. Riding more I would miss the lumbar support.
My answer for longer tours is stuffing the gap below the seat
with all sorts of soft things, like sleeping bag, tent and water
bag. This creates sufficient lumbar support and at the same time
is a solution for the storage of bulky equipment.
This does not sound ideal.
It's a compromise.
A soft seat is also lighter than a hard shell, I suppose.
Not necessarily. Mine is about 2 kg including all the parts
for mounting the seat to the frame. But I guess the other
Jürgen's seat is really lightweight.
The con's are a battered look and less guidance support when
steering the bike. I confess.
Yes, I always suspected you were a masochist ... :D
Finally got you using a smiley!
Cheers,
Jürgen.
