Mike,
Thanks for the info! As I reread my email, I realize I that instead of asking about the availability of metric tubing, I should've asked if it would it be cheaper/easier to use whatever the most common sizes are in the US.
I also want to ask: What size torch tip(s) would be best for welding a python with an oxy-acetylene torch (assuming that I followed the plans)? I have a size 6 tip -- I'm not sure if tip sizes are standardized or not -- it's a Purox torch.
I just realized something while looking at the new construction photos ( http://www.python.tieflieger.net/pics/front_part_steering_BB.jpg ) -- there appears to be a good 20 mm + gap between the trailing edge of the front tire (closest to the center pivot) and the cross member. If it's anything close to 20 mm on P3, then I should be able to shorten the "center is 38 cm from the FWaP" distance by 0-10 mm, by first reducing the "vertical incisions in the inner walls of the tubes 10 cm behind the FWaP" distance by 0-10 mm. Attached is a 36 kb picture of "front_part_steering_BB.jpg" that I chopped in Photoshop.
A (kinda bad) really good idea: Use an eccentric BB for the steering BB to fine tune the distance between the seat and the (real) BB. Actually that would throw the alignment off completely! Nevermind...
Michael
