[python] Re: Starting to build

Hello Juergen,
I have been working away from a computer for the last four months. Working in the northwest it was up to 48c in Jan.
Im pleased to see that my humble suggestion of bending the crank has been put to good use and the Python has gained a little more ground clearance.

Touching wood onto the heated aluminium is a good method of judging the heat. There are two other ways. In Australia we can buy temperature crayons at some welding shops. These come in a range of temperatures I think that aluminium becomes liquid at 550c (Do a quick internet search to confirm this) To use select the correct temp crayon mark the aluminum. heat and when the crayon becomes liquid you have the right temp. Another simple way is to rub a bar of hand soap onto the aluminium, when this goes black, again you have the right temperature for bending.

I am sure Eduardo will have the first Python in the southern hemisphere. I guess I will have to settle for the first in Australia!

I have a question. It appears that the Airbike and the Python use 26" mountain bike tyres. Is there a reason that 700c tyres and rims are not used? They require much less pedalling effort.

I did a check on the Autocad files that you sent to me Last year and the steering head angle on those is 70 degrees without rider and 67 degrees with rider. If you are drawing the PYTHON for construction I is worth while remembering this.

Is it possible to get an updated Autocad drawing for the new version of the Python? My 2d autocad skills are quite good but my 3d skills are very poor

Regards Colin Morton
