What I noticed as 2 main points to pay attention to when practicing is
that you should start with 2 hands on the ground and both feet on the
pedals, this way you prevent that you start steering right away while
not being experienced enough to correct that yet
It helps a lot having both feet on the pedals and both hand on the ground
when starting. Also it prevents any handlebars-addictions ;-)
Good exercise is to let the bike coast once it has gained some speed
and deliberately steer it by feet without pedalling.
What makes learning easier compared to a flevobike is the low
seat height and the better low speed control.
