This response isn't about seats for Pythons, so much as recumbent seats generally.

I'd just rebuilt and covered my SWB seat, so I though it might be helpful; It started as a copy of my Python's geometry.
original 1/8" plywood lay-up:

The padding was 1-3 layers of composite carpet foam.

I found that my original lumbar support was inadequate, and I didn't like a side-to-side flat seat bottom.

is the original covering and angle on the frame. After a couple of weeks of commuting I found that the canvas duck was a bit warm, the padding too thin on the sides, and the angle was too low for good application of power from the gluteus and hamstrings. It was also hard to feel when my butt was actually centered.

is the new padding, cover and angle. The seat has about a 2" rim of foam along the sides to give a 'centered' feel.
(It's not as high as it looks - the fabric is puffed up -
http://rjs.org/recumbents/images/SWB/front-quarter.jpg is better) The cover is Sunbrella, tough and breathable - it would also be great for a tube frame cover. The seat/BB angle is smaller by 5-10 degrees, and now when climbing the muscle use feels more like my tourer. (I also made the boom adjustable). The slot in the back help cooling greatly.

The same could be better done with a sculpted foam/glass shell - the recently linked sites looked like really nice ones.

(http://rjs.org/recumbents/images/ has general construction pics)

Best,
Ray
