You can't remove all fenders from a tadpole, particularly if you use a
mesh seat, or you'll be pelted with snow from below and behind, which
could freeze your tail.  But there's usually plenty of space to put a
fender over the rear wheel, with plenty of clearance, as Jukka says, and
no aerodynamic penalty.
