Aye, if you plan to brake your way down the Alps - bring a bucket of
water. The brake inside the 3-shift Nexus is not very strong. You
could of course double with a brake on the rear wheel.
When I rode your monty in Malmö (a swedish Town), I worried about it
that you cannot just break at any time, you need to wait until the
pedals revolved into the "right place" (vertically), before you can
reasonably give braking power. That takes away the possibility for fast
reactions. That is also a "little" disadvantages :-P



The bigness of the disadvantage is also due to habit. All my bikes during childhood had back-pedal-bakes so I have it in my blood, so to speak. In other European countries rim brakes are prevalent on kid's bikes. After buying my first mtb with derailleur, I continued to reverse the pedals whenever there was danger ahead. That could sometimes result in huge disadvantages ;-)
