You're right - I don't have acces to a aluminium welding machine - and I
like to be able to do as much as possible in my garage. My first recumbent
waited 3 months for the welder to finish the seat, so I have good reason to
compromise.
I made another adult size seat with all the tabs bended inwards with no
problems. It is a bit more "visually appealing" :

The cushion is warm, but I originally made this seat mostly for winter use,
and I wanted it to be as weatherproof as possible (ever sat down in a
hardshell seat with filterfoam full of water - frosen or liqud? :-)
