Hi,
the Sram imotion 9 is specified 340% and the Nexus Inter-8 307%.
I guess you mentioned the to hubs that fullfill the 400% reqirement. Even if
you would get one off the old Sachs Elan 12 gear internal gear hubs, acording
to Wikipedia, it has only 339% range.
Buy the way, if you are a python newbie, I would consider getting a cheap or
free wheel to start with. You can upgrade later.

I live in a fairly hilly area. So I was looking for a hub with a relatively
flat gear range around 400% or more. I also found the oil filled feature was
nice for efficiency and maintenance.
That basically leaves me with two hubs that I know of. The Shimano Alphine or
a far more expensive Rohloff. Neither of which have coaster brakes.
