[pure-silver] Re: replacing tiny screws on view camera

Shannon -

For the investment of a Saturday morning or three (maybe an hour each week) and a total of less than $10 you can acquire 2-3 (or maybe 8) Super-8 movie cameras at yard sales. A couple of evenings with some small screwdrivers should yield enough screws for years of repairs. They're Japanese, so the sizes and threads are similar.

I did this with "dead" cameras sent for repair and ran a school system's A-V support system for over 20 years without ever buying a small screw. It may take some hunting through your "collection" to find the right size, but it's cheaper and - once you've removed the screws to a storage container - faster than even a trip to the corner hardware store (which, of course, would be a waste of time).

You'll find small washers, nuts, e-rings, and other hardware also worth saving.

Color me...a scrounge.

Hi, a screw on my Tachihara view camera is stripped. It is very small, almost like a screw on a pair of glasses. I wonder where you get tiny screws like this. Do I have to get in touch with Tachihara, or is there a simpler way?
