Hi,

All this talk about bleaching made me wonder about the following: in the mentioned bleaches there is usual Potassiumferricyanide (KFCN) and a salt as PotassiumBromide, in order to convert the silver salt back to
it's halide.

When you bleach with Farmer (KFCN and fixer) there is no salt present, so in what the silver atom is converted, into a silver-ferricyanide
salt?

Best,

Cor

I am not sure of the chemistry. Evidently, the reducer converts the silver to something that hypo will remove but will not redevelop in a sulfide solution. The halide, of course, will also dissolve in hypo.
