Shannon, congratulations on this wonderful honor!  
 
What works well for me is to lay out the framed work on the floor, measuring 
out the space as closely as I can to what I will have to work with on-site.  
Sometimes I have to do it in sections if the space is much bigger than what I 
have available at home.
 
It really helps to clarify in my mind the best way to present the photographs.  
And that includes the spaces between the works.  I then draw a rough diagram, 
w/measurement notes, to work from during the installation.
 
BTW, Thanks so much for the URL about the security hangers, I'd always wondered 
how museums do it!
