It's not really "installed". You put it in when you use the 8x10 holder. There are two pieces: a bottom piece of plain glass, and a top piece that has one side rough and the other side smooth. But, the top piece is bevelled so that it can only go in the holder with the rough side UP, which is wrong.
I got this enlarger used after it had been at a lab for many years. They had made many weird modifications to it, most of which I had to undo and fix back. I am amazed they could make good prints at all, given the degree to which they had messed with the 108S Devere machine. For all I know, they just bought some anti-newton glass and had it bevelled wrong. Maybe I can take it to a glass place and have them bevel it the other way. I'll see when I go back to Houston.

        Is the glass installed wrong? Wouldn't be the first time somebody did
something upside down.
