[pure-silver] Re: newton ring problem figured out

Hi,

But then the AN would be under the neg and not between the neg and light source which is were it should be if it is to be effective? No?

I think we're back to square one :(

The only solution, new AN with the proper bevel!

Cheers,
Bogdan

Any chance the negative carrier can be installed in the enlarger the other

Subject: [pure-silver] newton ring problem figured out

A few months ago I posted a question about what was causing a weird
white ring on my prints. It was diagnosed as a symptom of Newton
Rings,
and then the question was: why did the Newton rings form? I had to
leave Houston where my darkroom is for a few months, but last
weekend I
was back in Houston and I investigated the problem further. I found
that the glass carrier does have anti-newton glass on top, but the
glass is beveled so that the rough side is up!

The discussion on this list made me understand that the rough side
should be in contact with the film base side of the negative.
But, in
my carrier, the way it is beveled forces you to put the top glass
in so
that the smooth side touches the film base.

I guess the only solution is to have the glass re-beveled so that
the
rough side is in contact with the film base side of the negative,
correct?
