[pure-silver] Re: moving a darkroom

I think you can pack it all up in a full day.
I'm going to take a stab at this. I bet there's a 20-40 hours worth of work there, especially if you need to plumb sinks, install vents, erect partition walls.
What do plumbers cost these days?

Good luck to you. I dread the thought of moving because my of darkroom... never mind the kid and her school friends, and sense of palce... : )

I just found out I may have to move my darkroom this summer. It's in the garage of a house we're renting, and the landlord has suddenly decided to sell the house. We may try to buy the house, but if we get outbid, I may have to pack up and move.

My question is: how many full days of work does it take on average to set up again somewhere else? I realize this depends on many factors including the condition of the building it will go in, but just a ballpark estimate will help with planning. I have a sink that is detachable from the wall; a vent hood with a fan and ducts, and two enlargers, although the 8x10 might have to go in storage for a while. I guess the main work will be installing new vent holes for the air to go out in the new garage or whatever; making a new air inlet (I use a sort of baffle box now); detaching and reinstalling the sink; making the room light-tight; and setting up the enlargers again.

I think I can get some help with this so I won't be doing it alone.

Thanks,
