My D2V 35mm and 6x7 carriers have the raised frame on the underside that positions them in the negative stage, but the 4x5 carrier is just flat aluminum stock with registration pins- I suspect it was homemade. The negative stage has a pair of pins at the back corners that also center the carriers into the stage. So far as I am concerned, they are the original carriers, but since I bought the rig used, I don't know what originall came with it.

The original carriers that came with my D2-V also have the raised frame... (I have several, purchased with a new D2-V in the 1970's.)

I'm not sure of the history. I know Omega made plain, flat, 4x5 negative holders with the locating notches. These pre-date the ones with the frames. I don't know if the plain ones were contemporaneous with the D-2 or were from the previous D-II version, which was similar in many ways to the later version. Omega made a number of enlargers with similar lamphouses, the D-3 autofocus, the later D-5 and D-6, and the frame type holders may have originated with one of these. Unfortunately, my Omega literature is in storage at the moment. I do have both patterns of holder and both fit my D2V just fine. The frame type holders also have the locating notches of the earlier version but I don't know if the later model enlargers have locating pins for the earlier holders. Someone with a D-5 could look and tell us. Also, at some point Omega went from metal finish to black and white paint.
