Shannon: Fred Picker once suggested mounting 3"x3" or 4"x4" gel or polyester filters in a cardboard frame and holding them in front of the lens at the time of exposure. That is what I do. It is simple in use, relatively inexpensive, and does not affect picture quality as the filters are very thin. The mounted filters I store in a stiff cardboard folder and that keeps them clean. Minor dust can be simply blown off. Cheers, - Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: pure-silver-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pure-silver-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Shannon Stoney Sent: September 26, 2006 10:55 AM To: pure-silver@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [pure-silver] filters for view cameras Hi, I am thinking of getting some sort of filter system for my view cameras. I looked online at some places like B and H, and I was sort of overwhelmed by the choices. Is it better to buy the screwmount kind, or the Lee system that attaches to just about any lens, apparently using a rubber band, and comes with four or five filters? The latter seems more affordable in the long run. Just wondering if other people have used this system and like it. I have three lenses, two for the 4x5 and one for the 8x10, and ideally this Lee filter set and holder would work for all three lenses, and maybe even on medium format cameras. --shannon ======================================================================== ===================================== To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there. ============================================================================================================To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there.
