I have also used CC filters behind the lens in my 8X10. Be careful that it
is clean and lying flat against the rear lens ring. I have had very faint
ghost images from filters that were at an angle. Though I have never
noticed it I "have heard" that putting a filter behind the lens can
introduce some aberrations which you don't see with the filter in front of
the lens.

I use the gel filters behind the lens with good success.
