Jim,
Very interested in the three Day Yosemite workshop. Dates of March 13-15
even seem workable but according to the description I don't think the
alternate weekend date will work for any of us... including you, (unless you
have a time machine...) I have pasted the lines in question.
If the weather is going to be totally socked-in (snow storms all weekend), I
will cancel this workshop and, if agreed to by a majority of participants,
reschedule it for the following weekend, Feb 27-29. Here's a live web cam of
Yosemite Valley which shows current conditions including the temperature:

I really would have loved to have done this in the past, Have great weather
the weekend before your scheduled date only to have disappointing conditions
on the weekend of the big event.
I know it's a "typo" and I suspect you knew it too before this email
arrived but couldn't resist the urge to scratch that itch.
Now to the real matter at hand. I have and still occasionally shoot a DSLR
but on these kinds of trips I prefer to shoot LF either 4x5 or 8x10, have
both but hate to pack the 8x very far. They're both Tachiharas and each fit
nicely in their own Backpack. So the question being, how far off the beaten
path so to speak are your locations of preference and how much time can be
spent at each site? LF is a bit more cumbersome as you may know and I would
not want to be the stick in the mud holding up the group all the time and
screwing up the schedule for the day.
Frankly I haven't taken an "artistic" workshop in decades! For the past 30
years or so photography was "work" having been I photographer by trade most
of it, the last 16 as owner of a studio/lab. (By far my most frustrating
weekends were when I was handling the E-6 processing for another
photographer's workshop so they could do their critique on Sunday
evening...80 to 120 rolls of slides to process & mount in about 12 hours and
then another "small batch to do on Sunday afternoon and have ready for
Sunday at 6pm. Made a good chunk of money but at times would have rather
been "shooting" instead of "souping" myself.) I am retired for the
industry...almost, no more weddings, closed the lab but still get suckered
into a portrait or event on occasion. Tuff to be good at what you do and
live in a very small community, just can't hide or say no to some of the
locals.
One final question and that is about getting to Yosemite. When I was much
younger and a rock climber I thought nothing of making that drive instead of
sleeping, (I lived in Corvallis Oregon at the time, now I am over on the
coast.) how would you recommend getting there?
Thanks for the additional info!
Steven
