[pure-silver] Re: Workbench advice

My darkroom was setup in a couple of hours with the intention of doing better
later. Everything has worked so well to date that I have changed nothing. I
have plans, but those plans would interrupt my printing activities, so...

My darkroom is unique in that the house I live in had an unfiinshed bathroom
with an adjoining walkin closet. Both of these rooms are pretty small.

Setup was pretty easy, I put the dryside in the closet, and I put the wet side
in the unfinished bathroom.

Dryside:

I had a small dresser tat would fit in the closet. I have it at the very end
and next to the dresser I have a two drawer filing cabinet. Paper safes sit on
top of the filing cabinet. I removed the shelf and clothes hanging bar on the
left side of the closet but left it on the right. The shelf up top contains
items like color analyzer, stereo, spare enlarger bulbs, etc. Mounted on the
wall about elbow high I have my enlarging timer. The filing cabinet and the
dreser contain lenses, neg carriers, easels, dodging tools, scissors, filters,
etc.

Wetside:

in the far left side of the room is a fully functional toilet. at the right
side of the room along the same wall I have placed a metal framed waiting room
chair with a 2x4 under the back legs. There is a board approx 17" wide
stretching the six feet or so between the back of the chair and the top of the
toilet tank. It is level! in the near left corner is a can for the storage of
masterpieces that I create but never move to the print washer or hang to dry...
In this space I have printed up to 16x20 prints.

Drying area: This was the masterbedroom. I tables there for light box, and
print cutter. An old typing table with a piece of glass on on servs as a
squeegee station. I have shelving there to hold other photo paraphenalia and
file cabinets to hold prints, and chemicals, and other stuff. I have two lines
streatched the lenght of the room with clothespins for drying prints.

Washing:
Washing is done in the other bathroom. I have a print washer that sits on the
toilet tank. Water in comes from the sink faucet, and water out drains into
the sink. I also have a larger stainless steel print washer that attaches to
the shower valve where the shower head goes via an IPS to Hosethread adapter.
I use this washer (Arkay) when printing big stuff or when print a lot of things.

There are things I would change, but the changes I would make would probably
not tremendously impact the usabiility of my darkroom, those changes would just
"look better." I would like to have a sink and running water in the wetside of
my darkroom. That would probably be the first change I would make to my
current setup.

Good Light!
