That there is damge should not be surprising. One of the worst environments
for prints are modern buildings which are sealed and usually have poor air
exchange rates. The amount of pollutants present causes damage to the silver
image. Outgassing from rugs, other fabrics, and wall board, as well as
industrial cleaners have all been implicated.
