In the case of Pyro they tell you to mix right before
using it because the developer oxidises and looses
effectiveness very quickly after it is mixed.

That is one of the reasons why it is difficult to get
good results with pyro in a Jobo - all that agitation
makes the developer suck up the oxygen and go bad.
