[pure-silver] Re: TESTING; no posts

DEAR RICHARD,
You are absolutely right...with modern tech there is no reason for
long distance to cost more than local but, as I said, our telecom
carrier/ISP is simply raping us because it is not traditional in this
culture to have a consumer revolution or even an organized protest. As
previously mentioned, the telecom carrier/ISP brags that the highly
profitable Caribbean is underwriting all of their other less profitable
regions. That is what I call arrogance but we live with it every day.
A good friend of mine was head of the local International
Development Bank and he stated that he found it very difficult to attract
some new businesses and investments to Barbados because of the outrageous
cost of telecom which plays such an enormous part in the profitability of
some businesses.
Soooooooooooooo, this isn't just my griping...it is the reality
("What a concept!" Robin Williams)

With satellite at least there really is no reason for
international calls to cost more than local calls. The
current international telephone network operates very much
like the internet, that is, its a spider web network
operating on a kind of packet basis that's there all the
time.
