So now that I have found a mystery stash of Sodium Bisulfite, YAY!, I'd
like to premix some fixer in undiluted format..

I have a recipe here for Looten's Acid Hypo:

  Water 2L
  Sodium Thiosulfate 480g
  Sodium Bisulfate 45g

I like to make a non mixed 3L jug of fixer..

  My thinking is:

  Water 3L
  Sodium Thiosulfate 2880g
  Sodium Bisulfate 270g

This would make a 1+4 solution..

Actually it's not a 3L jug but one of those 96oz jugs but I figure to
the top it's 3L..

  Would this work ?

  Thanks

  J

I found another non-hardening acid fixer formula, this one is from Agfa/Ansco

Agfa 203 Non Hardening Fixer Stock Solution

Sodium thiosulfate, crystalline 475.0 grams Potassium metabisulfite 67.5 grams Water to make 1.0 liter

For use dilute one part stock with one part water.

The amount of water to start with is not specified but is probably at least 500 ml. If crystalline hypo is used the water should be pretty hot, at least 125F. The metabisulfite is added after the thiosulfate solution has cooled. This formula can also be made up using anhydrous thiosulfate, the amount being 64% of the above. If the anhydrous form is used the water should not be over 90F. Sodium metabisulfite should work as well as the potassium salt. Agfa was able to obtain potassium salts very cheaply as a byproduct of their chemical manufacturing operations so they tended to specify them in their formulas. This formula was originally intended for fixing Printon film, an early color printing material.
