That¹s a good question.

To me the answer is, that any picture is a 2D simulation of a 3D scene. Good
lighting is when it¹s executed in a way that the difference cannot be felt.
Also, lighting gives you the opportunity to emphasize the important and
subdue the mundane.

Easier said than done.
