I have just found some RC prints with the same silver spots. I am
not certain these are dichroic fog because they easily wash off with water
while gently wiping the surface of the print with wet cotton under water.
Dichroic fog seems to be an integral part of the emulsion which doesn't
wash off.
With film, yes, I agree. With RC paper I have no idea.
It _is_ some sort of silver re-deposition that is happening on the surface
rather than integral to the emulsion, as happens with DF on film. I have
had things like this happen when used fix gets in the developer and
increases the developer's silver content. And excess silver in the
developer
(normally due to sulfite) is the cause of dichroic fog.
RC paper does all sorts of strange silvering/bronzing things, it shouldn't
be surprising it has a wipe-off variation of dichroic fog.
Just have to think up a unique name for it. Call it "Resin Argent
Redeposition"
or "Dichroic Epitaxial Fog" - and everybody is happy.
One clue to it's origin would be to find if it appears in the developer,
the fix or on drying.
