I received an online price request from a potential collector ...
For a piece costing about $200, UPS quoted me their LEAST
expensive rate of $514.25, $112.10 of which is just for fuel!!
Sounds cheaper to send it standby coach.
Ship it unframed by airmail. An 11x14 photograph mailed to Europe
was around $5 by air. If you really want to get cheap you can
send it by surface mail.
If it is a photograph I don't worry about damage - the
production cost for a print is nowhere near the print price,
so it is much more economical to ship cheap and uninsured and
to replace the print if it does get damaged.
