I think sans selenium Viradon appeared earlier than that, more like
2000. It was before the film-digital market crossover.  I'm not sure
of the reason why it disappeared, along with the Kodak counterpart.
Maybe because the range of toning effects is so variable and tech
support got fed up with customer expectations that were different from
that of the time the product was introduced. Maybe because it was
considered uneconomical duplicate products.  I don't know the reason
but it's very curious.

Liver of sulfur, the crude source of polysulfide used to make these
toners, is quite variable from source to source.  One may find
difference between two batches of the toner even if the same formula
is followed with exacting accuracy, if the source of LoS is different.
