For what it is worth --- I have developed Kodak 35mm HIE in an old
(aprox. 35 years) Patterson tank without problems.
On the subject of applicability of equipment for IR photography:
Black vinyl electrical tape, often used to patch equipment
to fix light leaks, is relatively transparent to IR.
