Although this issue is guaranteed to raise my partisan hackles, might I respectfully suggest that the conversation on this list be voluntarily restricted to photography-specific topics? Thanks for your consideration.

Ebay has a monopoly on online auctions. They are attempting to use this monopoly to force Paypal as another monopoly.
In the case of a free market, I would agree with you. This isn't the case with Ebay.
