[pure-silver] Now XTOL; Was Fuji film developers

Because of its reputation for unpredictable failure, it took me a long time to work up the courage to try XTOL. When I finally did, it was with an outdated 1 liter package that my dealer still had on hand (ironic given my hesitation). That one liter package worked well, and I've been using XTOL (in the 5 liter size) ever since. But it takes me a long time to go through 5 litres, and I hate storing all those little brown bottles. So I'm hoping that the 2 liter size will catch on and will not be problematic.

Being a rather risk averse person why do I use XTOL? Originally I was looking for speed with fine grain and was impressed by the work of other photographers who used it with TMY and Delta 400. And once I tried it I liked the results, which to my eye are finer grained and have smoother tonality than those produced by other developers I had tried.

Or, perhaps it's just a suburbanite's version of living on the edge.

XTOL in a 2 liter size-That's great news!

Didn't Kodak take the smaller sized XTOL off the market because of premature failure?
