yes, I have some photos somewhere. If it is important to you I can look for
them but then how would I post them?

If I wasn't so lazy I would look for the photo I took of a straight

send it to the list. Most people would throw the image away. Flat. It
had to be underexposed other wise the moon would be blown out.

Unless I'm missing something - and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I
have - Weston meters, at least the ones in my collection are all
reflection meters. Thusly Ansel could not have "used incident
"metering""
Just a thought.
From "Ansel Adams: Some Thoughts About Ansel And About Moonrise",
by Mary Street Alinder (Copyright 1999 Alinder Gallery):
All was in place, but he could not find his Weston light meter. He
remembered
that the moon reflects 250 foot candles and he based his exposure
upon that fact.
He quickly computed a setting of 1/60 at f/8, but with the addition
of the filter
it became 1/20 at f/8.
Ansel exposed "Moonrise" using incident "metering" (without a meter).
Incident metering is a useful tool and doesn't require one to "not
believe" in the utility and application of spot-metering.

Probably a nit pick but Weston made an incident light attachment for
its meters from pretty early on. At least one was available for the
Master II. Also, one can get the equivalent of an incident reading by
using a gray or white card. If a white card is used the reading is
devided by 5 to get the equivalent of an 18% gray card.
However, the above text says Adams guessed the exposure. If my
memory is correct Adams also said that the negative was underexposed
and very difficult to print.
