Actually Incident readings have issues whenever there
is a light source in the frame - be it the sun, or a
candle.  If your objective is to have the light source
exposed properly, then you will probably have to go to
a 'reflected' reading.   Having said that, my two most
powerful tools for determining exposure are my
incident meter, and my brain.  Either one used without
the other yields bad results.

I use mine to meter strobes all the time. :)
