Thank you Richard, and others, who have responded kindly with their help. To Rick Gordon, I can only say the issue has a photographic element, insofar that I am bombarded with offers of pirated software, and the source of the problem may come from lists such as this: is possible to lift addresses in this way?

Clifford,

Richard, may I ask what spam blocker you use ? I have recently been using Spambully, but not sure it is the complete answer.

I use the one at Earthlink. While I have a Netcom address it is actually a grandfathered one at Earthlink, who bought out Netcom several years ago.
The spam blocker works well but occasionally gets stupid. I did some housecleaning on its adress book and we will see with this post if that has cured the problem. I didn't want to send any more tests to the list.
This blocker has three settings: off, low, and high. When in low it blocks known spam (I am not quite sure how Earthlink determines that), in high it blocks all senders not in its address book. That's the setting I use.
I've not had any experience with third party spam blockers.
