The packaging (wood box) frightens me somewhat: are we protecting jewels ?
This is a general tendency I've seen during the last Photokina where several
small brands (Maco,
Gigabit, ...) seems to move the marketing from a purely technical domain to a
more irrational one.
The new Schneider lenses, not their technical qualities, but their brass finish
including the
engraved name of the owner go that route too.
It's certainly interesting for the firms as this can justify exagerated price
tags but I'm more
interested in the result.
It's something I've already lived in another domain, high-end audio, where
things have gone very far
in nonsense, nearly religious dogma (and crazy prices).
Regards,
Claudio Bonavolta
