Good heavens. Are you not taking this a bit too seriously? I am also object of constant ridicule about my use of film but then its only fools who do not accept other ideas and behaviour.
Last weekend I was student at a photo course and I was the only one of ten people whoi used film. Everyone else had reall big and expensive DSLRs (alas without a flash-sync X-cable socket, tee hee. I told them to better spend their money on decent cameras and they were duly miffed.).
But for your own sake, please don´t let some stupid shop assistants get to you like that....
(The last after they had just run a prominent newspaper ad for students & teachers w/film cameras for sale, making sure to let us know they still carry a full line of paper, chemistry, etc., for our needs!)
Well, I think there is a big difference in audience here: newbies who just want to take snaps or apprentices of the craft of photography who want and need something else.
