[pure-silver] Re: Lith Developer formulae

Hi Thierry

<<"Amazon.fr says there are no more of it at the publisher's.">>

I don't know why this should be - it has only just come out and shipping
hasn't even begun yet, it is still in the warehouse (maybe this is what they
mean?)
My copies are due to arrive next week so they should soon be available then.
You can also order copies signed, and if desired also personalised, from
the website here - http://www.worldoflithprinting.com I do know that both
lith books are available.

I have seen the formulae in the link you sent. I haven't tried them all
obviously (life is too short!) but of the few I have used my impression is
the those with formaldehyde or Para formaldehyde work better for lith
printing than the ones listed without either. I know of some people who have
claimed success with them but I haven't had the results from them that suit
me.
I mostly use the commercial ones now as they give me exactly what I want,
are consistent and always available.
Moersch makes formaldehyde-free lith devs and they are excellent too,
although a much shorter shelf life I find. Some of the contributors to WOLP
have included their own formulae with examples too, notably Peter Svennson
with his 3 'Dr Jekyll' formulae ("because it leaves out the 'Hyde" !!)

Also, I think the estimate of a 2 hour tray life (in your link) is a little
stingy and I get more than that, but I use larger rather than smaller
volumes for consistency.

<<"I just have surprised (and disappointed) not to find any formula in a
book which claimed it was "definitive".">>
Yes, point taken, and my apologies for that.

Tim

   Hi Tim,
Thanks a lot for your answer.
I understand very well what you mean.
I just have surprised (and disappointed) not to find any formula in a
book which claimed it was "definitive". Anyway!
I am now looking for its "companion" but Amazon.fr says there are no more
of it at the publisher's.
Would you know if there are some companions available?
Then, what do you think about the formulae published by Unblinkingeye and
those by http://members.iinet.net.au/~forbes/lithdev.html#Formulae ?
   Best regards,
   Thierry

[pure-silver] Re: Lith Developer formulae

   A very good point Thierry.
You are quite right of course, it is an omission and in retrospect I
should
   have included formulae.

At the time, there was nothing written about Lith printing and my primary
objective then was to raise awareness and explain it - and hopefully
inspire
people to try it for themselves using existing materials.
It is actually the only one of my books that doesn't contain many
formulae
(there are a few for some other chemical products that are not available
off
the shelf) and I hadn't appreciated how many people would be interested
in
   making their own Lith developers.

I have sought to try and redress this balance by bringing out a companion
book with formulae, including formulae and techniques sent in by
contributors in the 'Forum' section and also updating the current
materials
lists and new techniques, so I hope that together the 2 books are rather
   more 'definitive'.

It is getting harder in this digital age to interest a publisher to
invest
in a book for such a niche market, so I am very pleased with it.

      Thanks Tim for your answer.
I regret that in your "definitive guide on lith-printing" there is no
formula. Where is the definitive here?

         Hi,
I'd like to lith-print but I don't know any formula for the lith
developer. I bought the book of Tim Rudman about Lith-printing but
   there's
      no formula.
         Could someone give any?
         Thanks in advance.
         Best.
