I think it depends on when you stop toning in the first toner
and move to the other one. Look into TimRudman's toning book.
I observed that selenium (patterson) tended to tone the darkest
parts first and creep into the light tones and sulfide
(Viradon-new) started with the lighter tones. So a nice split
could be done.
I did some tests in AGFA MCC paper and could see the
"purpleness" creeping up, and depending when I stopped the
selenium the results of such splits were very different. Some
had very nice golden tones, other showed nice brownish tones,
some had even red hues.
