This is a huge topic, particularly if you like to make large prints. But that 
was never my problem. I always made book-sized prints for my journals. The 
largest were 5x7. Somehow, I now appreciate grain more because digital has all 
but eliminated it with smooth algorithms.

To me residual grain is the sign of a real darkroom photograph.
