Remember that Rodinal (p-aminopnenol) is closely related to Metol so the Ascorbic acid is probably supperadditive with it as it is with Metol. So, when one adds Ascorbic acid to Rodinal one winds up with a different developer. BTW, I wonder what effect the Ascorbic acid has on the pH of the developer. The pH will affect the activity of the developer, the same goes for adding Sulfite.
