[pure-silver] Re: Fuji film developers

I just learned from a friend at EK that Kodak's isoascorbate based developer, XTOL, is now available in a 2 litre size, to go with the 5 litre and 50 litre sizes.
This has catalog number 859 0176, and has been introduced with the amount of fanfare that has become typical of recent Kodak product introductions of traditional products. ( I think this means ...none) Your dealer may not be aware of the availability of this product. The 50 litre size of the product is now packaged with two parts A and two parts B, so customers can mix only 25 litres at a time if they so wish.

If Fujidol E is indeed an ascorbate developer I would give it a try. Hydroquinone based developers like D-76 are bad for the environment. Of course I am a bit biased as I have always disliked D-76.

My photo shop has extended the range of film developers. They replaced Agfa Rodinal with Calbe R09, but they now also sell two Fujifilm developers, Super Prodol and Fuji Fujidol E. The Fujidol E seems to be an ascorbate developer.

What does the expertise on the list have to say about these two Fuji
developers? Are they worth trying in place of D-76?
