[pure-silver] Re: Free Kodak Film

I have just caught up on reading my e-mails. I am a little surprised that
people see the alternatives to Kodak and Ilford, my two least favorite
papers, as second rate. I have used Oriental Seagull paper, both graded and
VC, for more than a decade and IMO nothing comes even near it.
I agree that Kodak films are very reliable and Ilford makes films that stain
wonderfully in Pyro developers but Bergger sheet film is wonderful as well
though I prefer it in a non Pyro dev.
Is this just opinion or have y'all never tried Oriental fiber based papers?

I've tried following this line of thinking, but I
have to admit I just like Kodak film. I've used
Tri-X and Tmax 100 for a long time and they just
work so well for me! Both developed in D76.

Printing is another matter though. I really like
using Zone VI Brilliant VCIII that I buy at the
Calumet store here in San Diego. It's made by
Ilford although only in 8x10 and 11x14. Bigger
sizes I use Ilford MGIV fiber. I used to use
Kodak chemistry for printing, but found I do just
as well with Ilford MG developer and rapid fixer.

I wish Ilford would offer 4x5 film in readyload
packets. That would probably convince me to
replace Tmax 100.
