Sorry, I guess my statement wasn't too clear. What I meant is that if
you like the Bergger films it might be advantageous to find out who
makes them. It might be cheaper.

O.K.,
But it is manufactured by neither Kodak nor Ilford so we are not
relying on "The big two".
What I see going on here is that the big players who used to
make most of their money serving the amateur and processing lab markets
are pulling out because both of those have gone digital. There are
still suppliers who can make money with smaller economies of scale
catering to those of us who still buy film and paper...if we will still
do it.
And, again, I have never really Kodak paper for fine art black and
white. Ilford Gallerie, though too thin, was a lovely paper. Other
than that I still prefer Oriental papers.

It is my understanding that Bergger does not manufacture any film but
only rebrands with their name.

I have just caught up on reading my e-mails. I am a little surprised
that people see the alternatives to Kodak and Ilford, my two least
favorite papers, as second rate. I have used Oriental Seagull paper,
both graded and VC, for more than a decade and IMO nothing comes even
near it.
I agree that Kodak films are very reliable and Ilford makes films that
stain wonderfully in Pyro developers but Bergger sheet film is wonderful
as well though I prefer it in a non Pyro dev.
Is this just opinion or have y'all never tried Oriental fiber based
papers?
CHEERS!
