Viradon has that strange characteristic, I believe Tim Rudman's
toning book has a good explanation.
The more diluted the Viradon the more it affects the highlights
and the faster it works.

After toning, a quick rinse in water and a HCA bath (or sulfite
solution) is reccomended as a stop for toning.  Works like
magic.
