[pure-silver] Re: Devere 108 trouble

Usually it makes an awful screaming sound when the bulbs are bad. This time it didn't do that, but I changed them anyway just in case the screamer was broken.

Perhaps one of the new bulbs you installed was bad. Just because they were new doesn't mean they were all good.

This morning I turned on the Behemoth in the darkroom and it worked fine. Went back in the house for a while, came back with a different negative, turned it on again, and no light. The fan came on, but the enlarger head lights did not. So I thought a bulb was burned out (there are eight and if one goes, the light won't come on at all), and I replaced them, not knowing which one was bad. Wrong. That didn't fix the problem. So I went around looking at all the wires and connections (there are a lot) and everything looked tight. Is there anything else I should check? this enlarger is pretty old and I got it second or third hand. Somebody put it together for me, as it's pretty complex. I called the guy that usually helps me with it, but I think he may not be in the business any more, and anyway, he didn't answer his phone.
