To prevent diluting the fixer I would add dry metaborate. I'd test this first since it might be hard to dissolve with all the other stuff in solution. Any pH paper with the correct range around 7 should work. pHydrion is a good brand. There is one indicator solution sometimes used for aquarium use bromphenol blue (pH 6.2 yellow -> pH 7.6 blue) this would be ideal if you could find it. -----Original Message----- From: pure-silver-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pure-silver-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of john stockdale Sent: Thursday, December 15, 2005 6:02 PM To: pure-silver@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [pure-silver] Re: D-Max with pyro Thanks Gerald. I have sodium metaborate solution on hand already. If I want to use indicator papers to determine the pH of the fixer, would any papers of the appropriate range be ok? Perhaps even the test strips used for swimming pools? The reason for my initial suggestion of sodium hydroxide was that the MSDS from the USA for Agfa FX-Universal lists ammonium hydroxide (0-1%). The other ingredients are ammonium thiosulphate, sodium sulphite and EDTA (acid). John Stockdale At 01:17 AM 16/12/2005, you wrote: >It's hard to say how much is required.
